MOUNT BLANCHARD — Arcadia scored four runs in the third inning and then five runs in the fourth to take a 10-4 victory at Riverdale in Blanchard Valley Conference baseball play Wednesday. Trailing 1-0, the Redskins (3-4, 1-1 BVC) scored without the aid of hit in the third inning.

BUCYRUS — Carey’s girls and Wynford’s boys were the winners of a dual track and field meet Tuesday at Wynford. The Blue Devils girls won, 109-24, and the Royals girls won, 82-56.

BUCYRUS — Wynford scored multiple runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take a 7-3 victory against Colonel Crawford in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball action Tuesday. The Eagles (2-5, 0-3 N10) scored once in the first inning, but the Royals (5-2, 4-2 N10) took the lead with three runs in the second and then added to it with two in the third.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale used a huge two-out rally to push across five runs in the top of the seventh inning and take an 8-3 non-conference baseball victory Tuesday against Allen East. With the game tied at 3 and no one on base and two outs in the seventh, the Falcons began their string of runners.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Allen East scored four runs in the third inning and took a 5-2 victory against Riverdale in non-conference softball action Tuesday. Allen East took a 1-0 lead after the second inning before their outburst in the third.

When Paul Dunn was a player for the Mohawk boys basketball team in the mid 2000s, the Warriors experienced a string of successful seasons including winning a league championship and sectional title his senior season in 2006-07.

There were no athletic events held in the area for the fifth straight day Monday with another full slate of postponements because of the weather. Upper Sandusky’s varsity baseball and softball games at Buckeye Central have been moved to Thursday.

Upper Sandusky resident John McCallister will be honored by the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association at its awards banquet April 25. Every year, the GCFCA honors people who have worked with high school football players in the area, often coaches and sometimes media.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jake Diebler was hired Saturday as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Vanderbilt University. He will work under new head coach Bryce Drew, for whom he was a player while Drew was an assistant at Valparaiso University and then later was an assistant coach when Drew took over the head coaching job from his father, Homer Drew.

All of the weekend’s athletic events have been canceled. Upper Sandusky’s home varsity baseball and softball games are rescheduled to April 19.
