Carey walk-off win gives Upper share of N10 win

CAREY — Dani Berardinelli-Clark’s grounder to second base scored Sydney Wentling from third and gave Carey a 5-4 walk-off victory against Colonel Crawford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Monday. The loss by the Eagles (23-4, 14-2 N10) means they share the N10 championship with Upper Sandusky (21-7, 14-2 N10).

Mohawk squeezes past Calvert

CLYDE — With hits hard to come by, Mohawk coach Eric Hoover decided to take a chance that paid off. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Austin Shock’s suicide bunt scored pinch runner Brayden Dunlap from third to give the Warriors a 2-1 victory against Tiffin Calvert in the Division IV district championship Saturday at Clyde.

FOSTORIA — Sydney Geiser admitted she never could have imagined at the start of the year what played out Friday. The Carey senior was seeing little action early in the year as the Blue Devils began 0-5.

Upper qualifies many to regionals

DEFIANCE — Upper Sandusky’s girls track and field team qualified for regionals in seven events, including a pair of individuals in two events, while finishing third Friday in the finals of the Division II district meet at Defiance College.

Falcons hold on for 5-4 win in Toledo

TOLEDO — Riverdale pitcher Trey Miller stranded a pair of runners on base to preserve a 5-4 victory to close out the baseball season Friday night at Fifth-Third Field in Toledo. The Falcons rallied after giving up three runs in the first inning.
