MANSFIELD — Upper Sandusky used its depth to take first place Saturday in the Tyger Co-Ed Relay Invitational hosted by Mansfield Senior. The Rams scored 346 points to easily beat out Shelby, which finished with 288 points.

NEW LONDON — Wynford struggled offensively and lost a non-conference game, 60-39, on Saturday night at New London. The Royals (5-5) made just 12 of 43 shots (27.9 percent) and gradually fell out of contention.

Conference championships and state appearances made up the majority of Wyandot County’s top sports stories of the year in 2015. For some teams, it was repeated success that made the accomplishments most significant. For others, it was a first-time feat to celebrate. The top stories were voted on by The Daily Chief-Union sports writers.

BUCYRUS — Wes Vent gave the Rams an early spark, and the Upper Sandusky offense picked up Wednesday where it left off in its first game in a week: an 86-68 Northern 10 Athletic Conference win at Wynford on Wednesday. Defensively, there was room for improvement.

SYCAMORE — Through three quarters, offense was hard to come by, but when Mohawk made a run, Ridgedale was able counter with Mo Britton. The only senior in the Rockets’ regular rotation, Britton scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, and Ridgedale pulled out a 42-36 road victory Wednesday night.

BUCYRUS — Cody Luzader knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points as Carey defeated Bucyrus, 57-45, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Wednesday night.

TIFFIN — Thurston Dyer and Noah Clary both won championships as Upper Sandusky finished sixth in the conclusion of the Tiffin Holiday Classic on Wednesday at Columbian.

SYCAMORE — Although the last two opponents have not been great competition, the Mohawk girls basketball team will take the wins. After dropping numerous close games, the Warriors have won two in a row following a 52-21 blowout of Cory-Rawson on Tuesday night.

A pair of buckets off quick sets to start the second half gave the Rams offense a shot of adrenaline in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game against Colonel Crawford on Tuesday. More importantly, the second one got Abigail Fogle going.

FAIRBORN — Cole Draper placed fourth to lead Mohawk in the conclusion of the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association tournament Tuesday at Wright State University’s Nutter Center. The Warriors finished 15th with 53.5 points among Division II and III teams in the 57-team tournament that featured mostly Division I schools.
