USMS wrestling takes 3rd at Fostoria Duals

FOSTORIA — Upper Sandusky’s junior high wrestling team went 4-1 at the Fostoria Duals and finished in third place. Emery Pahl, Brayzin McDaniel and Dylan Parks all went 5-0 for the Rams. Ashton Shepherd, Garrett Thomas, Allen Ramos, Evan Barth, Dylan Bryan and Nick Stuckey were 4-1.

Rams start fast to run away with 68-49 victory

Upper Sandusky coach Jeff Winslow was concerned the Rams would have a letdown against a solid non-conference team in Bellevue just one night after a Northern 10 Athletic Conference showdown victory against Colonel Crawford. The Rams quickly put Winslow at ease by carrying Friday night’s momentum over into the first half of Saturday’s 68-49 victory against the Redmen.

The Carey girls basketball team needed 36 minutes and an all-around game from Shelby Kin to keep its conference win streak alive Saturday at Upper Sandusky. At the final buzzer of the overtime period, the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leading scorer shared a relieved embrace with sister Sydney Kin, as the Blue Devils escaped a 63-58 nail-biter.

LaRoche, Luzader lead Carey upset of Crawford

CAREY — Abel LaRoche and Cody Luzader combined for seven 3-pointers and 35 points as Carey knocked off second-place Colonel Crawford, 58-52, on Saturday night. LaRoche hit three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points, and Luzader connected on four 3-pointers and scored 17 points.

Rams boys, girls take 1st place

MARION — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls won the team championships Saturday in the Division II Public Schools Small School Invitational at W. Keith Davis Natatorium at the Marion YMCA. Upper Sandusky’s girls won by a single point over Columbus Bexley, 487-486, and the boys won with a 399-361 advantage over second-place Galion.

NEW WASHINGTON — Mohawk had a six-point halftime lead on a team tied for second place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, but Buckeye Central shut out the Warriors in the third quarter and took a 44-36 victory on Saturday night.

Upper takes 2nd at Plymouth

PLYMOUTH — Three Upper Sandusky wrestlers won championships, and the Rams finished third Saturday in the Plymouth Invitational. Edison was the team champion with 214.5 points, with Upper Sandusky scoring 192.5 points. South Central was third with 182.5 points.

Royals have no problem with Rockets

BUCYRUS — Gretchen Harris had 11 points, and the Wynford girls basketball team took an easy 57-24 victory against winless Ridgedale on Saturday. Sarah Ogden added nine points, and 13 different players scored for the Royals (5-7, 4-5 N10).
