Little Rams having clinics and tryouts

Upper Sandusky will begin a Little Rams competition cheerleading team for the 2016-17 school year. Students rising to fourth, fifth and sixth grade are eligible to try out. Clinics are from 5:30-7 p.m. March 8 and 10, and tryouts are at 10 a.m. March 12 at Upper Sandusky Middle School. For more information, call Stacy Taylor at 419-250-0597.

Angeline teams lose in West Section finals

VAN BUREN — Both the Angeline men’s and women’s basketball team finished a game short of qualifying for the state final four with losses this weekend. The Indians women lost a 40-32 game to the Hamilton County Queen City Gems in the West Sectional championship at Van Buren High School.

TOLEDO — Mohawk took another step forward in rebuilding its wrestling program to elite level Saturday. The Warriors qualified three wrestlers to state — Daniel Price, Parker Brown and Cole Draper — and Draper earned the team’s first district championship in 13 years during Division III competition at Waite.

GIBSONBURG — Carey had its revenge for a moment. With 0.3 seconds left in a Division IV district final rematch with Fostoria St. Wendelin, Sydney Wentling lobbed a sideout inbound pass to Shelby Kin. In one motion, Kin caught the ball on the block, turned and banked in a shot. At first it counted. Then it didn’t.

Third time is a charm for Royals against Bucks

LEXINGTON — Wynford knew from experience that a third game against the same opponent does not always go the same way as the first two times. The Royals exacted revenge on Buckeye Central for a pair of double-digit regular-season losses by beating the Bucks, 67-58, to capture their first sectional championship in five years.
