MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale boys basketball team rallied in the second half to beat Miller City 63-57 for its seventh straight victory Saturday night. The Falcons (12-5) trailed 21-15 after one quarter and 33-28 at halftime.

SYCAMORE — Zach Hayman became the third boys basketball player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a 78-43 Mohawk victory against Bucyrus on Saturday night. Needing 28 points to reach the milestone in front of the home crowd, the senior guard got just that many, making it to the mark on a layup in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

BLOOMDALE — Carey got three forfeits to start and topped Mohawk 37-30 in the first round but lost to Delta 56-18 in the quarterfinals of the state dual team tournament regionals for Division III Region 17 on Saturday at Elmwood.

Wynford earned a No. 2 seed in the Division IV Willard district to lead area girls basketball teams in district draws held Sunday. The Royals (12-5) were ranked behind only Buckeye Central in the district and earned a bye into the sectional finals to be played at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 23 at Norwalk.

BUCYRUS — Mohawk rolled to a 32-11 victory against Ridgedale in the first round of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference eighth grade girls basketball tournament Saturday at Bucyrus Middle School. Bailey Sheets led the Warriors with 15 points.

With the final result between the Upper Sandusky and Bucyrus girls looking like a formality, the biggest question Friday night was which Upper Sandusky senior girl was going to be the night’s leading scorer.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale boys basketball team’s winning streak has now eclipsed their win totals each of the last two seasons. Thanks to a second quarter in which the Falcons outscored the Cory-Rawson Hornets by 12 and a third quarter in which they outscored them by 10, the Falcons overcame sluggish first and fourth quarters with a 59-51 victory over the Hornets on Friday at Riverdale.

CAREY — The Carey girls basketball team got off to a tremendous start against Northern 10 Athletic Conference second-place team Buckeye Central Friday night before running out of steam in a hard-fought 58-42 loss at Carey.

ATTICA — Seneca East held Mohawk to just 13 points in the first half on the way to a 72-41 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball action Friday night in Attica.
