Upper girls win Tiffin tri-meet

TIFFIN — Upper Sandusky’s girls won big while the boys tied for first in a swimming tri-meet Tuesday at the Tiffin YMCA. The Rams girls scored 90 points, with Tiffin Columbian edging Tiffin Calvert for second 47-43.

Wynford boys swimming splits at Kenton

KENTON — Wynford’s boys swimming team edged Bellefontaine but lost to Kenton in a tri-meet, while the Royals girls lost both Tuesday at the Kenton YMCA. The Royals boys topped the Chieftains 46-44 but lost to the Wildcats 63-29.

The Upper Sandusky junior high wrestling team went 3-1 in dual wrestling matches over the weekend, losing to Archbold 54-42 and beating Findlay Donnell 58-30, Findlay Glenwood 88-6 and Kenton 90-6.

Vent’s buzzer beater lifts Rams

Upper Sandusky junior guard Mason Vent’s first shot was nothing but air. His last shot was nothing but net. With 7.6 seconds remaining and the game tied at 45, Cameron McCreary received the inbounds pass from Jason Holly and dribbled to his right to the top of the key, where he tried to drive into the paint but three of the Eagles’ defenders guarded it.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central did not cash in on its chances at the foul line but it found a way to get the job done anyhow. That way was offensive rebounding. The Bucks grabbed 21 of their own misses, resulting in 25 second-chance points as they picked up their first win, 60-58 in overtime against Wynford on Saturday night.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Fouls. Blasted fouls. Throughout the duration of the Riverdale girls basketball team’s matchup with Bucyrus on Saturday, committing fouls was a trend neither team could reverse, as the Falcons and Redmen combined for at least 40 fouls and 80 free throws.
