Fogle’s walkoff 2-run double pushes Upper into 1st place

Upper Sandusky senior shortstop Alexis Fogle wasn’t nervous. Not when she watched a three-run lead entering the top of the seventh inning turn into a one-run deficit heading into the bottom of the seventh. Not when a pitch she hit down the first base line with two outs and runners on first and second and her team trailing by a run almost stayed fair but rolled foul by approximately 6 inches.

St. Peter’s sweeps singles to get win

Mansfield St. Peter’s swept singles play to defeat Upper Sandusky 3-2 in a boys tennis match Wednesday at Upper Sandusky. Luke Henrich was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against the Rams’ Levi Malone in the No. 1 singles match, while Harrison Hecker rolled past Landon Cotto-Ramos 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match.

Riverdale’s Loveridge throws 1-hit shutout

PANDORA — Alec Loveridge threw a one-hit shutout to lead Riverdale to a 2-0 victory against Pandora-Gilboa in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game Wednesday in Pandora. Loveridge (3-2) faced just two batters over the minimum, striking out 10. One batter reached on an error.

Widmer leads Warriors past Tigers

SYCAMORE — Cole Widmer threw a three-hitter and had two hits and three RBIs at the plate to lead Mohawk to a 7-3 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday at Mohawk. The Warriors (10-3, 7-3 N10) bounced back from an 8-4 loss to Carey on Tuesday with a patient showing at the plate, drawing eight walks.

Seneca East holds off Mohawk 12-11

SYCAMORE — Seneca East scored eight runs in the fourth inning and then held on for a 12-11 victory against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Wednesday in Sycamore. The Warriors (9-6, 5-6 N10) led 3-1 when the Tigers (8-8, 5-7 N10) scored eight times in the fourth inning and two more times in the fifth inning for an 11-3 lead. Mohawk got five runs back in the sixth inning to get to within three, and after Seneca East scored once in the top of the seventh, Mohawk scored three times in the bottom of the seventh.

Carey baseball tops BC to win 3rd straight

NEW WASHINGTON — Mckain Miller had three hits and four RBIs as Carey won its third straight game 9-2 over Buckeye Central on Wednesday at Buckeye Central in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball action. Mullholand has 4 hits in Blue Devils’ 8-1 win

NEW WASHINGTON — Bridget Mullholand had a pair of doubles among four hits as Carey defeated Buckeye Central 8-1 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Wednesday at Buckeye Central. Hailey Niederkohr homered, singled and scored twice, and Emma Wagner hit a solo home run for the Blue Devils (13-4, 7-2 N10). Mary Racheter added three singles and an RBI, and Hannah Lonsway singled, doubled and scored a run. Lexia Clinger had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Riverdale track teams 2nd in BVC tri-meet

MOUNT BLANCHARD – Riverdale’s girls and boys both finished second to Arlington in a track and field tri-meet Tuesday at Riverdale. The Falcons girls were edged 82-69, with Cory-Rawson scoring only 18 points. The Red Devils boys scored 76 points, with the Falcons edging the Hornets 52-48.

CAREY — After graduating six seniors off of last year’s league championship team, the Carey baseball team struggled the first half of the season. A big victory Tuesday is further proof the Blue Devils have started to figure things out.
