Warriors advance in tournament

SYCAMORE — Mohawk defeated Bucyrus 34-26 in the quarterfinals of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference freshman boys basketball tournament Wednesday at Mohawk. Collin Barth led the way for the No. 2 seed Warriors with 10 points, followed by Jacob Coldiron with 8 points and Ryan Dietrich with 6 points.

Whippets overwhelm Rams

As the senior night for Upper Sandusky girls basketball players Alivia Oney, Madison McLaughlin and Alexis Fogle, Feb. 12’s matchup between Upper Sandusky and Shelby was already going to be memorable. The Shelby girls basketball team won’t soon forget it either.

BUCYRUS — With a roster that includes five freshmen and no seniors among just 10 players altogether, Ridgedale has had a lot to learn this season. The Rockets showed they are catching on Tuesday night with a 48-43 come-from-behind victory against Wynford at W.R. Donnenwirth Gymnasium.

Arcadia defeats Mohawk

ARCADIA — Arcadia held Mohawk to two points in the second quarter as it began to pull away for a 62-32 victory in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night. The Redskins (17-4) led 15-7 after one quarter and 27-9 at halftime. They made it 46-25 at the end of three quarters.

Carey tops New Riegel

CAREY — Sadie Arend had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds as Carey defeated New Riegel 34-26 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night. Alaina Tiell finished with 8 points in a game that got off to a slow start offensively. Carey (6-15) trailed 4-3 after one quarter before taking a 16-13 halftime lead and 26-19 lead after three quarters.

USHS tourney game to be split session

Upper Sandusky will play in a Division III boys basketball sectional final at 8 p.m. March 1 at Monroeville. It will be a split session. The first game will feature the winner of New London and Huron against Western Reserve at 6:15 p.m.

OYB tourney in Columbus

COLUMBUS — The 16th annual Ohio Youth Basketball tournament is Feb. 23-24 in Columbus for boys and girls teams in the third through sixth grades. Three different divisions in each grade will be available based on school size.

Sen-San-Wyan softball set to meet March 6

TIFFIN — The first organizational meeting for all coaches in the Sen-San-Wyan girls softball league is 7 p.m. March 6 in the Upper Room at St. Joseph Activity Center on Melmore Street in Tiffin. This instructional league is open to all girls in the surrounding areas and no girl will be denied participation on their home team.
