Upper defeats Mohawk in extra innings

SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky senior Jevon Dible didn’t just give the Rams an extra innings victory, he made himself the winning pitcher. With the game tied entering the top of the ninth inning, Parker Frombaugh laced a 3-2 pitch to third base that was bobbled by the Mohawk third baseman. He advanced to second when the ball got away from the Mohawk catcher on Ben Sheaffer’s strikeout.

Bluffton wins doubles matches, edges Upper

Bluffton won both doubles matches in three sets to take a 3-2 victory against Upper Sandusky in a boys tennis match Friday afternoon. The Pirates’ Drew Wilson and Christian Groman rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory against the Rams’ Sam Stuckman and Keegan Hossler in the No. 1 doubles match, while in the No. 2 match, Eden Nygaard and Grant Klingler defeated Micah Swinehart and Justin Blackburn, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Rams girls take title at Royer Invitational

NORTH ROBINSON — Upper Sandusky’s girls won the championship while the boys were runner-up Friday in the Bob Royer Invitational at Colonel Crawford. The Rams girls won by a wide margin, 196-128, over the host Eagles, with Mohawk coming in third with 110.5 points.

Blue Devils win 10th N10 game

CAREY — The Ridgedale girls got on the board first, but a six-run response from the Carey softball team helped the Blue Devils remain unbeaten in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play Friday. Carey (13-2, 10-0 N10) tacked on four more runs to comfortably defeat Ridgedale 10-3.

Royals fall short against Tigers, 5-3

ATTICA — Wynford hung tough with one of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s top baseball teams, but a late rally fell just short in a 5-3 loss to Seneca East on Friday. Wynford (5-8, 4-4 N10) got on the board in the first inning when leadoff hitter Wyatt Smith singled and was knocked in by Caleb Stone.

Seneca East pounds 17 hits in 12-4 win

ATTICA — Seneca East scored seven times in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for a 12-4 victory against Wynford on Friday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game. The Royals (5-8, 2-7 N10) scored twice in the first inning, but the Tigers (8-4, 5-4 N10) took the lead for good with three in the bottom of the first.

Holman leads Wynford at Margaretta Invite

CASTALIA — Wynford’s boys were ninth and the girls were 11th in the Margaretta Invitational on Friday. Edison was the girls winner with 126.5 points. The Royals scored 17 points. Smithville took the boys title with 147 points, with the Royals scoring 24 points.

Sheaffer sparks Rams’ 10-4 win

Down 2-1 with two outs in the fifth inning against Mohawk, Upper Sandusky had just who it wanted at the plate. Ben Sheaffer delivered a two-run triple that propelled the Rams to a 10-4 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game.
