Mohawk senior Madi Chester signed her national letter of intent on Friday to play volleyball at Ohio Northern University. “One of the volleyball coaches contacted me and they had come and watched one of our games and they said they were interested in me. I went on a visit to see if I liked it. Ada is a small town, so it feels like home, because it’s like Sycamore. There’s not too many people, it’s all close together; it feels like home.”

Upper girls split with CC

The Upper Sandusky eighth grade boys basketball team topped Colonel Crawford 39-31 on Saturday. Jackson Smalley led the Rams (13-1) with 10 points, followed by Levi Lamb with 8 points and Keegan Iles with 8 points.

Warriors hold off Blue Devils

CAREY — Needing a bounce-back performance to remain atop the Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball standings, Mohawk got it with a big first half before holding off Carey late in a 53-47 victory Saturday night. The Warriors had their N10 lead cut to one when they suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday night against Colonel Crawford, and another loss to the Blue Devils on Saturday night would have created a three-way tie for first with the Eagles only a game back. Instead, Mohawk stays alone atop the N10.

Upper wins 3rd straight title

NORTH ROBINSON — The Upper Sandusky boys swimming team is 3 for 3. The Rams won the North Central Ohio Swim championship by winning nine of 11 events for a team score of 398 on Saturday at the NCOS Championship at Colonel Crawford.

Eagles top Royals after trailing at half

BUCYRUS — Josh Crall scored 23 points and Wynford had a huge a first half but it was not enough as Colonel Crawford asserted itself in the second half of a 44-33 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play Saturday night. Crall scored 14 points in the first half as the Royals built a 21-11 lead at halftime.

Gillig scores 17 for Mohawk in loss to BC

SYCAMORE — Claudia Pifher knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead Buckeye Central to a 64-39 victory against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Saturday. The N10 leader in 3-point shooting by a large margin, Claudia Pifher came into the game having made 31 of 54 (57.4 percent) on her 3-point tries. The freshman did not hurt that mark Saturday.

Rams’ Pahl wins Sally George title

MARION — Emery Pahl won the 132-pound championship to lead Upper Sandusky in the Sally George Invitational wrestling tournament this weekend at Pleasant. Pahl went 4-0, winning his first two matches by pin. He topped London’s Ethan James in the semifinals 7-4 and rolled past Northmor’s Austin Amens 9-0 for first place.

Mohawk’s Price goes 9-0 in DIII Duals

SANDUSKY — Mohawk defeated Western Reserve 33-20 to take 13th place Saturday in the Division III Duals wrestling tournament at Sandusky St. Mary. The Warriors were 2-2 on the first day of the tournament Friday but went 0-4 in pool play Saturday, losing 34-27 to Van Buren, 62-9 to Edison, 48-30 to Montpelier and 45-27 to Mechanicsburg.
