Baker, Light lead Tigers

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore scored 41 points in the middle two quarters to pull away for a 60-43 victory against Carey in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night. The Tigers (11-7) led just 10-8 after one quarter but a 22-point second quarter helped them extend their lead to 32-19.

Eagles shut down Warriors

NORTH ROBINSON — Colonel Crawford held Mohawk to eight points in the first half and pulled away with a 44-21 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Monday night. The Eagles (12-7, 8-7 N10) led 9-4 after one quarter, 23-8 at halftime and 35-16 after three quarters.

Upper boys teams advance

BUCYRUS — Levi Lamb scored 18 points to lead Upper Sandusky past Bucyrus 51-25 in the quarterfinals of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference eighth grade boys basketball tournament Monday at Wynford Elementary. Jackson Smalley scored 9 points, and Keegan Iles added 6 points.

The Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leading 3-point shooting team, Upper Sandusky showed in the second half Saturday night it is not a one-trick pony. The Rams struggled offensively in the first half with their outside shooting off the mark but found plenty of success in the second half by pounding the ball inside, pulling away for a 68-49 victory against Buckeye Central.

Hayman scores 1,000th point

SYCAMORE — Zach Hayman became the third boys basketball player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a 78-43 Mohawk victory against Bucyrus on Saturday night. Needing 28 points to reach the milestone in front of the home crowd, the senior guard got just that many, making it to the mark on a layup in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

Carey tops Mohawk, falls to Delta

BLOOMDALE — Carey got three forfeits to start and topped Mohawk 37-30 in the first round but lost to Delta 56-18 in the quarterfinals of the state dual team tournament regionals for Division III Region 17 on Saturday at Elmwood.

Wynford gets No. 2 seed in district

Wynford earned a No. 2 seed in the Division IV Willard district to lead area girls basketball teams in district draws held Sunday. The Royals (12-5) were ranked behind only Buckeye Central in the district and earned a bye into the sectional finals to be played at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 23 at Norwalk.

Upper girls teams advance in N10 tourney

BUCYRUS — Mohawk rolled to a 32-11 victory against Ridgedale in the first round of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference eighth grade girls basketball tournament Saturday at Bucyrus Middle School. Bailey Sheets led the Warriors with 15 points.
