FINDLAY — Both of Riverdale’s 3200 relay teams, along with Carrol Pauley in the discus, advanced to regional competition during the first day of the Division III district meet at Findlay. Carey’s boys 3200 relay team also qualified for next weekend’s regional meet.

BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s Tyler Pummell in the shot put and the Mohawk girls 3200 relay team are on to regional competition after qualifying Thursday in the first day of the Division III district meet at Bucyrus. Both were district champions, with the 3200 team of Anna Stillberger, Shelby Bollinger, Destini Oler and Madison Fredritz finishing in 10:14.09 and Pummell throwing 54-1.

CAREY — The Blue Devils softball team set a new school record with its 18th win of the season Thursday, 15-3 over Ridgedale. Carey (18-9, 10-5 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) continued its hot hitting from Wednesday’s district tournament game, scoring 13 runs in the first inning against the Rockets (2-22, 1-15 N10).

ATTICA — One swing can be all it takes in a pitchers’ duel. Bellevue got that swing in the third inning of a 3-1 district semifinal win over Upper Sandusky at Seneca East on Wednesday.

CLYDE — In three tournament games, Austin Shock has allowed three runs. More importantly, the senior has three wins, and Mohawk is in the district final game after a 2-1 win over top-seeded North Baltimore in the district semis in Clyde on Wednesday.

SHELBY — At this point in the season, everything is all about and all for the seniors. Left-hander Kyle DeJean got the call on the mound for Wynford in its Division IV district semifinal game against Norwalk St. Paul and came through with a four-hit, 11-strikeout performance to lead the Royals to a 4-1 victory.

FOSTORIA — The Carey softball team had its way with a young Leipsic Vikings team Wednesday night to advance to the district tournament final for just the second time in program history.

DEFIANCE — Upper Sandusky’s Sam Pryor qualified for regionals in the high jump in the first day of Division II district track and field competition Wednesday at Defiance College.

CAREY — Carey scored four times each in the fifth and sixth innings to run rule Colonel Crawford, 11-1, in its Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball finale Wednesday.

SHELBY — Defense was a big reason why Mohawk entered its Division IV district semifinal with Lucas on a 10-game winning streak. On Tuesday, it was a big reason why the Warriors did not come away a winner.
