Upper strikes late to beat Mohawk, move back into 1st

SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky got runs out of enough scoring chances in a crucial Northern 10 Athletic Conference game at Mohawk on Friday. It also held the Warriors in check enough times to escape with a 9-7 win and move into first place in the league standings with Wynford (6-3 N10) losing to Seneca East (6-3 N10).

Rams roll to 12th straight win

SYCAMORE — Once Upper Sandusky gets rolling, there’s no stopping the Rams, and right now, they are rolling. The Rams had innings of five and eight runs to easily take their 12th straight victory, 15-2 against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Friday.

Carey overcomes slow start

CAREY — Carey won its fifth straight non-conference baseball game Thursday, 17-7 over Old Fort in five innings. The Blue Devils (7-7) fell behind 6-0 in the top of the first inning before scoring five in the home half.

Crestline pulls away from Wynford with 7-run inning

BUCYRUS — Wynford stayed close early but a seven-run fourth inning allowed Crestline to pull away for a 16-3 victory in five innings in a non-conference softball game Wednesday. The Royals (1-11) trailed just 3-2 after one inning and 5-3 after two innings, but the Bulldogs came up with two runs each in the third and fifth innings, with the seven-run explosion in between.

Upper junior high girls win

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky’s girls won a middle school track meet and the boys finished second among three teams at Bucyrus on Tuesday. The girls topped Bucyrus, 58-54, with Seneca East in third with 39 points.
