McCOMB — Six different players scored offensive touchdowns for state No. 5 McComb in a 56-7 walloping of Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference match Friday. Corey Swisher had two first-quarter touchdowns, including the game’s first score on a 43-yard run.

NEW WASHINGTON — Carey snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 3-1 on the road with a 46-0 victory at Buckeye Central on Friday. The Blue Devils (3-4, 3-2 N10) forced four turnovers and held Buckeye Central to 26 yards rushing.

SHELBY — Sara Gier was defeated, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2, in a Division II sectional quarterfinal match against Willard’s Jessica Beamer after play was resumed Friday. Gier, the No. 4 seed in the singles bracket, was trailing 5-2 in the third set Thursday when the match was suspended due to darkness.

BUCYRUS — Wynford volleyball will play a “Volley for the Cure” match at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Upper Sandusky. All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen organization.

BOWLING GREEN — Most players came off Stone Ridge Golf Course disappointed in their score during the Division III district tournament Thursday. But in perspective, Mohawk and Carey had solid showings, led by the Warriors’ Chet Margraf with an 81 that was three strokes shy of state qualifying.

SHELBY — Sara Gier played almost eight sets of tennis Monday, and she still isn’t done. Gier’s quarterfinal match in the singles bracket of Division II girls tennis sectionals against Willard’s Jessica Beamer was suspended due to darkness, with Beamer leading the third set, 5-2.

Andrew Male scored three goals to lead once-beaten Ontario to a 7-3 victory against Upper Sandusky in a boys soccer match Thursday. Kadin Hooks scored twice, and Brennan Blaising and Logan Osborn also had goals for the Warriors (12-1-1).

BUCYRUS — Bucyrus continued its recent strong play with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 victory against Upper Sandusky in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Thursday night. After starting 0-10, the Redmen (6-13, 4-9 N10) have won six of their last nine matches.

ONTARIO — Ontario topped Upper Sandusky, 7-1, in a girls soccer match Thursday. It scored the first five goals of the match before Grace Miller converted a 35-yard direct kick with less than five minutes remaining in the first half for the Rams’ only goal.

ATTICA — Mohawk rolled to a 25-19, 25-12, 25-10 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Thursday night. Addie Thiery led the Warriors (15-4, 11-3 N10) with 12 kills and three aces, while Destini Oler had eight kills and eight digs.
