Weinandy medals as Warriors win Elks Invite; Rams take 2nd

BUCYRUS — Carson Weinandy shot a 75 to earn medalist honors and lead Mohawk to the championship in the rainy Elks Invitational on Monday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. The Warriors finished well ahead of runner-up Upper Sandusky, 319-341, with Galion third with a 345. Complete results, including those for Wynford, were not available.

Grand champion

The Upper Sandusky High School competition squad recently placed first in the large division and was named grand champion at Elmwood High School.

Upper Thunder 10U

The Upper Thunder 10-and-younger team recently completed its first travel softball season with an 8-6 record and two semifinal finishes. The Upper Thunder 8-and-younger team recently completed its travel softball season during which it took second place in the Lady Warrior Invitational in Pataskala. Upper Thunder tryouts being held Saturday

The Upper Thunder girls fastpitch travel organization is having tryouts at the Upper Sandusky youth baseball fields Saturday. Tryouts for girls born in 2004 and 2005 are from 11-11:30 a.m. for pitchers and catchers and from 11:30-12:30 p.m. for infielders and outfielders.
