BUCYRUS — Carson Weinandy shot a 75 to earn medalist honors and lead Mohawk to the championship in the rainy Elks Invitational on Monday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. The Warriors finished well ahead of runner-up Upper Sandusky, 319-341, with Galion third with a 345. Complete results, including those for Wynford, were not available.

TIFFIN — The Mohawk girls golf team opened its season with a 252-261 loss to Seneca East. The Warriors’ Hayden Heilman tied the Tigers’ Moriah Love for medalist honors with a 60.

TIFFIN — Ethan Tanner shot a 99 to lead Carey in the Seneca Hills Junior Varsity Invitational on Monday at Seneca Hills Golf Course. The Blue Devils finished fifth with a 421.

The Upper Sandusky High School competition squad recently placed first in the large division and was named grand champion at Elmwood High School.

The locally-based NWCO Steam AAU/travel basketball program once again had an accomplished spring and summer in 2016.

MARION — Upper Sandusky swept the singles matches and defeated River Valley, 4-1, in its first tennis match of the season Friday afternoon.

The Upper Thunder 10-and-younger team recently completed its first travel softball season with an 8-6 record and two semifinal finishes. The Upper Thunder girls fastpitch travel organization is having tryouts at the Upper Sandusky youth baseball fields Saturday. Tryouts for girls born in 2004 and 2005 are from 11-11:30 a.m. for pitchers and catchers and from 11:30-12:30 p.m. for infielders and outfielders.

OLD FORT — Carey set an 18-hole school scoring record and captured the championship Friday in the Lakota Invitational at Nature Trails Golf Course. The Blue Devils edged Woodmore by a stroke, 324-325, with Mohawk in third with a 328 in the 16-team event.
