BUCYRUS — One night after a 40-point loss to Upper Sandusky, Wynford came away with an impressive victory, defeating New London, 67-61, on Saturday night. Thad Hensel had a career game to lead the upset, scoring 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting.

Upper Sandusky girls fastpitch softball sign-ups will be held this week for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Times are 5:30-7 p.m. today and Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Upper Sandusky Fire Department.

BOWLING GREEN — Friday’s Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University’s Cooper Natatorium was the conclusion to a season that brought the Upper Sandusky swim team along another step but not quite to where they hope to be. The Rams scored points in 10 different events but did not place high enough to place on the podium or advance to state in any events. However, with every participating swimmer a junior or younger, there is much to look forward to.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky has plenty of reasons to be happy. The Rams made a school-record 21 3-pointers Friday in a 96-56 win at Wynford. They improved to 21-0 and extended their regular-season win streak to 44 games. They clinched the Northern 10 Athletic Conference outright. Jevon Dible tied a Jon Diebler record with 11 3s and netted a career-high 35 points. And the Rams did it without their head coach.

SYCAMORE — Five seniors walked along mid-court with their family members during pregame festivities, five seniors were named in the starting lineup and five seniors left the floor in the Mohawk High School gymnasium for the final time. They left as winners.

McCOMB — It was a poor start offensively that ended up costing the McComb Panthers in their Blanchard Valley Conference matchup against Riverdale on Friday night. The Falcons took the lead early and wouldn’t relinquish it on the way to a 55-49 victory, despite the Panthers’ best effort at a comeback.

BUCYRUS — Carey rode a narrow, early margin to an 84-60 victory at Bucyrus on Friday. The Redmen (3-16, 3-12 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) came undone in the even quarters.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk summer league baseball and softball sign-ups are 9-11:30 a.m. Feb. 25 and March 4 in the Mohawk High School cafeteria. SYCAMORE — Upper Scioto Valley pulled out a thriller on the mitts of Alyssa Miller. With 2.3 seconds remaining in a tie game and Mohawk inbounding with the full court to go, Miller stretched out her palms, knocked Grace Morehart’s quarterback-style pass down, quickly corralled the ball and layed in as time expired to lift the Rams over the Warriors, 38-36, in a grind-it-out, non-league regular season finale.

ARLINGTON — Arlington’s seniors haven’t lost a game on their home court in more than two years and the Red Devils wanted to make sure it didn’t happen against Riverdale in their final game in the AHS gymnasium on Thursday.
