Upper Sandusky High School will host a spring sports parent meetings at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Parents of all spring sports athletes are expected to attend.

LEXINGTON — It figured to be a little easier than it was, but Riverdale used a fast start to take a 66-55 victory against Huron on Tuesday night in a Division III sectional semifinal game at Lexington. The No. 4 seed Falcons (12-11) raced out to an 18-7 lead but never was able to pull away from the No. 14 seed Tigers (2-19).

CAREY — Fostoria made it a point of emphasis to attack Carey’s Hayden Stone in the paint Tuesday, but while the Redmen did earn some layups and trips to the foul line, the 6-4 Blue Devils freshman was largely deterrent.

Led by senior Sydney Holderman as a first-team pick, four Riverdale players earned All-Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball mention Tuesday. Senior Janessa Taylor was a second-team pick, while juniors Lexie Wright and Reygan Frey earned honorable mention.

CALEDONIA — Zach Hoffman, Josh Crall and Jack Reed combined for 63 points, but it was not enough to outdo River Valley’s trio of Hayden Wallace, Dustin Johns and Tom Poorman. They combined for 70 points in an 89-80 Vikings victory Tuesday night.

LAS VEGAS — Grace Searls and her mother, Kathy VanHorn, won national championships at the Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Tournament last week at the South Point Bowling Center.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — After all of its late-game shenanigans this season, it was fitting that Riverdale withstood a serious fourth-quarter push to hold off Carey, 62-59, in a non-league game on the final day of the girls basketball season.

RAWSON — Aidan Loveridge and Ethan Hayes won back-to-back championships at 182 and 195 to lead Riverdale to a fourth-place finish Saturday in the Blanchard Valley Conference wrestling tournament. Van Buren ran away with the title for the second straight year, scoring 143.5 points.
