Upper Sandusky’s girls basketball team opened up a 41-8 lead on Wynford by halftime on its way to a 62-33 victory Saturday afternoon, hours before the boys team also blew out Wynford.

On the second night of a back-to-back for each team, Upper Sandusky pushed thoughts of tired legs aside in an 81-35 victory over Wynford on Saturday.

MORRAL — It was quite a weekend for Mohawk sophomore forward Chris Klopp. After having perhaps his best game of his short varsity career to that point on Friday night with 10 points against Upper Sandusky, Klopp had 14 points Saturday evening to lead the Warriors to a 49-46 victory against Ridgedale.

MORRAL — Even when its shots were not falling, Mohawk stayed consistent on defense, and eventually, that led to offense.

MARION — Upper Sandusky edged Columbus Bexley by 10 points to win the girls championship in the Division II Public Schools Invitational hosted by Mount Gilead on Saturday at the Marion YMCA.

MANSFIELD — Noah Clary and Connor Johnston won championships as Upper Sandusky finished third Saturday in the 35-team J.C. Gorman Invitational at Mansfield Senior.

CAREY — Trey Bame led a barrage of 3-pointers with five of them on his way to 24 points as Carey blew out Bucyrus, 108-69, on Saturday night.

CAREY — Carey held Bucyrus to 23.3 percent shooting as defense carried the Blue Devils to a 41-29 victory Saturday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game.

SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky extended its regular season win streak to 35 games by beating Mohawk by 23 points Friday. Wes Vent paced four Rams in double figures with 16 points. But Jeff Winslow wasn’t thrilled about the 61-38 victory.

ATTICA — Wynford’s recent struggles carried into Friday night’s game, but only for about four minutes. The Royals ended a two-game losing streak by surging ahead after a rough start and then holding off Seneca East, 66-63, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game.
