As part of its ongoing mission to support families in Wyandot County, Open Door Resource Center is sponsoring a school supply drive for local students again this year. Supplies collected during this drive will be distributed to parents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Open Door, located at 212 W. Wyandot Ave.

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District has announced a slate of upcoming events. The district’s quarterly history program, “Tellin’ Tales,” is slated for 2 p.m. July 23 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline, and will focus on local drug stores.

BUCYRUS — Entry forms are available beginning today through the start of the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival for its 2016 art show. Forms are available at the Bucyrus Public Library, Bucyrus Visitors and Tourism Bureau, MB Subculture and the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Village Gardeners Garden Club recently met with 12 guests, including members of the Friendship Garden Club of Union County. Speaker Mary Lee Minor, past president of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs and a master gardener, presented a program on arranging flowers using plants from her yard and garden.

The Upper Sandusky High School class of 1966 recently gathered for their 50th reunion with a weekend of activities that included a golf outing and dinner at Shotzy’s Bar and Grille.

Local students graduate from the University of Akron AKRON — More than 2,580 students earned degrees from the University of Akron during its spring commencement services.

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation invites area singers to join the 2016 Assumption Choir. The choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead music for the Vigil Mass of the Assumption at Shrine Park at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay will be one of the only Ohio institutions to offer a preparatory workshop this fall for beginning teachers who are required to take the Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment. Teachers begin their careers with four-year resident educator licenses, according to the Ohio Department of Education, which administers the assessment.

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club participation in the National Depression Glass Association Show this Saturday and Sunday was the main topic of conversation at a recent club meeting. At most of the show, Tiffin members will be responsible for handling the admission table, as well as operating the lunch stand for the two-day event.

Fairhaven Community has combined efforts with two local Boy Scouts to improve its newest courtyard. The Stubbs and Wetzel Memory Care Courtyard is part of the recently opened Stubbs Behavioral Enhancement Unit.
