Franciscan Earth Literacy Center youth program participants are encouraged to explore solutions to lessons on their own — using their own minds, ideas and creativity and teaching children to think — as a critical skill. The FELC educates over 4,500 students and adult learners yearly in environmental education with short classes on- or off-site, daylong field trips, weeklong summer camps and teacher trainings.

HEAP provides assistance with heating costs

The Home Energy Assistance Program Winter Crisis Program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service, or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Eighth-grade students in Carol Minehart’s classes are assigned to do research and make a poster showing their family tree. Some of their work is on display at the Upper Sandusky Community Library.

Mid-Ohio Progressive meet on Wednesday

BUCYRUS — A member of Sen. Sherrod Brown's campaign staff will speak at the Wednesday meeting of the Mid-Ohio Progressives at 6 p.m. at the Bucyrus Public Library. Sarah Montell will address those interested in supporting the re-election of the U.S. senator and Mansfield native.
