MOUNT BLANCHARD — Colonel Crawford twice held a lead, but a six-run fifth inning was too much as Riverdale won a back-and-forth game 11-9 in nonconference baseball play Wednesday at Riverdale.

The Eagles (0-2) scored three times in the first inning and once in the second inning, but the Falcons tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the second and then took the lead with a run in the third. Colonel Crawford scored three times in the fourth and once in the fifth to move back in front 8-5, but a six-run bottom of the fifth made the difference for Riverdale.

Alex Russler, Gauge King and Spencer Dodds had two hits apiece for the Falcons, with Russler scoring two runs. Carson Young tripled and scored twice, and Evan Reiter had a hit, two RBIs and two runs. Thomas Miller singled, walked and scored two runs.

Cameron Furr worked through a tough start to pick up the win on the mound. He allowed eight runs — only three earned — on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts in five innings. Gunner King gave up one run on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts in one-plus inning of relief before Gauge King closed it out and earned a save by getting the final three outs, giving up one hit with two strikeouts.

Mason Studer led Colonel Crawford with two hits. Carson Feichtner doubled and drove in two runs. Brennan Hamilton had a hit and scored two runs.

Nolan McKibben was the losing pitcher in relief of starter Parker Ketterman. McKibben allowed three earned runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in 1 1-3 inning.

Riverdale hosts Carey at 5 p.m. today.
