Never easy: Mohawk holds off Buckeye in 5

Big win

SYCAMORE — It was not going to be easy to put an end to Buckeye Central’s 58-match Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball winning streak, no matter how it seemed early. Mohawk won a convincing first two sets and then had to take a decisive fifth set after Buckeye Central rallied Monday night, but the Warriors were able to pull out a 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 23-25, 15-5 victory to give the Buckettes their first loss in three years and avenge their only loss this year.

Blue Devils sweep Eagles

NORTH ROBINSON — It was what Carey coach Stacy Bell called a “lights out performance.” Carey swept the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s third-place team Colonel Crawford, 25-15, 26-24, 25-22, on Monday night in North Robinson.

Royals win 2nd straight

BUCYRUS — Wynford won its second straight match by sweep, taking a 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Monday night. Macey Zinser was 15-of-17 serving with four aces and added 12 kills for the Royals (4-12, 2-8 N10). Lainey Holman added nine kills and 11 digs.

Galion tops Upper in 3 sets

Mid Ohio Athletic Conference leader Galion downed Upper Sandusky, 25-15, 25-19, 25-14, in a nonconference volleyball match Monday night. Eve Smith had nine assists and 16 digs for the Rams (3-12). Kenedi Hayden had eight kills and Reagan Ward five kills against the Tigers (13-3).

NORTH BALTIMORE — Wins in the first and fourth sets weren’t enough for the Riverdale volleyball team as the Falcons dropped a five-set match to North Baltimore by a score of 25-19, 23-25, 17-25, 25-22 and 9-15 on Monday at North Baltimore High School.

McKain Miller leads Carey

ARLINGTON — Carey shot a 382 on Saturday in the Sycamore Springs Invitational at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. McKain Miller led the Blue Devils with a 90, followed by Brayden Miller with a 95 and Ethan Tanner with a 97. Dylan Grothaus rounded out team scoring with a 100.

Carey girls take 3rd place in Van Buren Black Knight Invitational

FINDLAY — In a race featuring multiple larger schools, Carey’s girls took third place in the Van Buren Black Knight Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus.
