GALION — Macy Mewhorter finished seventh in 11:57.80 to lead Upper Sandusky’s junior high girls to the championship in the Crestline Invitational on Tuesday at Amman’s Reservoir Park. The Rams edged Colonel Crawford, 80-83, with Fredericktown (84) and Cardington-Lincoln (90) close behind in a highly competitive event.

USHS set to induct 3 into HOF

Three new members will be inducted into the Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Hall of Fame before the start of the Upper Sandusky-Wynford varsity football game on Friday. Pete Miller, Jacob Parsell and Robert “Hooker” Swartz are the new USHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.

RAWSON — Brooke Swavel’s first career goal made Upper Sandusky a 2-1 winner against Cory-Rawson on Tuesday in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association match. Swavel finished a pass from Audrey Boes near the goal with 11:47 remaining.

Upper sweeps doubles again

BELLEVUE — For the second straight day, Upper Sandusky swept doubles competition but was swept in singles in a 3-2 loss to Bellevue on Tuesday. Using a modified lineup with their best players competing in doubles, the Rams (4-11) got a 7-5, 6-2 win from Jodi Smalley and Mara Smalley against Leighann Motley and Alivia Hamons in the No. 1 doubles match.

Using a modified lineup in preparation for sectionals this week, the Upper Sandusky girls tennis team dropped a 3-2 decision against Ontario on Monday. The Rams (4-10) swept doubles competition. Sisters Jodi and Mara Smalley were 6-1, 7-6 winners against Jade Salyers and Alyssa Armstead in No. 1 doubles.
