KEY LARGO, Fla. — Nine Upper Sandusky FFA students had the opportunity to spend five days in Florida studying marine biology at Marine Lab on Key Largo. Marine Lab is a research and development foundation created to help others understand marine ecology, according to a press release from the Upper Sandusky FFA.

FSA county committee nomination period begins

The nomination period for local Farm Service Agency county committees began Monday. It is important for county committees to reflect America’s diversity, and all eligible farmers and producers, including beginning farmers, are encouraged to get involved in this year’s elections.

New principal hired for East, South

Angela Murphy will be the new principal for East and South Schools as approved by the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District Board of Education on Monday night. The vacancy was created with Laurie Vent’s promotion to superintendent beginning in August.

Mohawk board OKs agreement for natural gas

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Local Schools Board of Education approved an agreement with Columbia Gas to bring natural gas to the campus and an agreement with Propane Fabricators for an 18,000-gallon propane tank for $50,000, and hired a new elementary school principal for a three-year contract at its meeting Monday night.

Roofing project approved in Upper

Two roofing projects will be coming soon to buildings owned by the city after the emergency passage of two ordinances Monday during an Upper Sandusky City Council meeting. The Upper Sandusky Municipal and Safety buildings, which house city offices, Upper Sandusky Municipal Court and the police department, were approved for re-roofing services.

Wynford to return to two principals

BUCYRUS — Through its most difficult financial times, the Wynford Local School District will return to having separate principals for junior high and high school. Jeff Holbrook, currently the principal over seventh through 12th grades, will become principal of 10th through 12th grades, while Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Chris Solis will become the principal for seventh through ninth grades.
