FSA seeks COC adviser nominees

Farm Service Agency County Committee advisers are a valued voice for underrepresented groups and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. County committee members and their county executive directors actively reach out to producer groups who are underrepresented on county committees.

ARC, PLC taking applications

Starting Nov. 1, farmers with base acres in the Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage safety net program were able to enroll for the 2018 crop year. The enrollment period ends Aug. 1. Because shares and ownership of a farm can change year-to-year, producers must enroll by signing a contract each program year.

Composting a good use for leaves

BUCYRUS — Leaves are abundant this time of year, and for many, that means time spent raking and removing nature’s fall bounty from yards and gutters. It is important to remember that these leaves, just as they can plug your home gutters and downspouts, also can plug storm drains creating flooding issues in storm drainage systems.
