The businesses of downtown Upper Sandusky were once again incentivised to decorate their windows this past month thanks a brainstorming session from two local business owners. After Majic 95.9 stopped doing the downtown window unveilings for Upper Sandusky in 2017, Kelly Giacalone from A Cut Above and Spa and A-1 Printing Inc.’s Becky Lloyd decided to get involved.

CAREY — Outside shooting is the perfect compliment to the Carey boys basketball team’s offense, especially with 6-foot-8 center Hayden Stone always a threat to score in the post. And on Saturday against Wynford, the Blue Devils, taking note that the Royals were in a zone defensively, connected on eight 3-pointers, including seven in the first half, in their 74-37 victory over the Royals at Carey High School.

Florence Palmer celebrated her 103rd birthday at Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Upper Sandusky on Friday with a gift of 103 pink roses, although she’d prefer if people think she’s still 30.

SYCAMORE — It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the Mohawk boys basketball team got the job done against a gritty Carey team Friday night at Mohawk High School in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game. The Warriors never trailed in a physical contest, but never created enough separation to get comfortable either, winning 46-40 in a defensive struggle.

Vanden Bosch helps Riverdale overcome slow start, top C-R

RAWSON — If there’s one person that the Riverdale girls basketball team has relied on this season, it’s senior forward Bry Vanden Bosch. In the midst of another slow start, a start in which the Falcons were trailing by 11 points early in the first quarter, the Falcons closed the half on a 14-point run, a run in which Vanden Bosch scored 11 of the Falcons’ 19 points the rest of the half.
