Mohawk’s Gottfried, Brickners, Riverdale’s Farmer earn All-Ohio softball honors

Mohawk’s Aubrey Gottfried led area All-Ohio softball selections as a first-team pick to the Division VII team as announced by the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.

Teammates Emily Brickner and Mallory Brickner were named to the All-Ohio second team in Division VII, with Riverdale’s Addie Farmer getting that distinction in Division VI. Many other players also were announced to the All-Northwest District teams.

A sophomore pitcher, Gottfried was tops in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with a 25-6 record, and a school- and league-record 326 strikeouts in 182 2/3 innings with a 1.80 ERA. Offensively, she led near the top of N10 with 48 hits and 13 doubles. She hit .444 with four home runs, 36 runs and 46 RBIs.

Mallory Brickner, a sophomore catcher, was first in the league with 52 runs scored, second in the N10 with 47 RBIs and ranked among the league leaders with a .431 average, six home runs, five triples and 12 doubles.

A sophomore second baseman, Emily Brickner was second to her sister with 51 runs scored and hit .472 with two home runs, nine doubles, 28 RBIs and a team-leading 12 stolen bases.

Farmer, a senior shorstop and pitcher, was the Blanchard Valley Conference player of the year and finished with a .627 average and 1.108 slugging percentage as a result of 22 doubles, three triples and four home runs. She scored 48 runs, had 31 RBIs and stole 10 bases. She also pitched 52 1/3 innings and a 2.81 ERA with 75 strikeouts.

Each of those players received All-Northwest District first-team honors, as did Upper Sandusky’s Madison Hart in Division IV.

Second-team honors on the All-Northwest District team went to the Rams’ Ava Saull in Division IV, Riverdale’s Graci Kline in Division VI and Mohawk’s Blake Miller and Katie Woodland in Division VII.

Honorable mention picks were Upper Sandusky’s Hope Morris and Ella Frombaugh in Division IV and Wynford’s Brooke Frombaugh and Rylee Robinson in Division VI.

A junior shortstop, Hart was the N10 player of the year and ranked second in the league with a .500 average and had a league-leading 15 doubles. She had 27 RBIs, scored 36 runs and has blasted three home runs and a pair of triples.

Saull, a junior second baseman, had a .448 average, a .573 slugging percentage, 39 hits, 27 RBIs and scored 27 runs.

A junior right fielder, Kline had a .407 average with six doubles, four home runs and 20 RBIs. She scored 20 runs.

Miller, a freshman first baseman, hit .361 with 18 RBIs and has scored 23 runs.

Last year’s N10 player of the year, Woodland, a sophomore third baseman, was the N10’s top power hitter with 11 home runs, seven triples and 49 RBIs, all ranking first in the league. She hit .467 with 49 hits, nine doubles and scored 44 runs.

Morris, a senior catcher, was a .363 hitter and among the league leaders with 10 doubles. She scored 15 runs and drove in 16.

A junior pitcher, Ella Frombaugh had a 3.26 ERA, 8-5 record and 49 strikeouts in 92 1/3 innings. Additionally, she was a .333 hitter with 21 RBIs.

Brooke Frombaugh, a sophomore catcher, had a .378 average, 11 doubles, two home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 23 runs.

A junior pitcher, Robinson was the N10 leader with a 1.66 ERA and had a 14-8 record and 166 strikeouts in 147 1/3 innings. At the plate, she was a .408 hitter with three home runs, 10 doubles, 26 RBIs and 34 runs scored.
