NEW WASHINGTON — Grace Stucky scored 22 points to lead Wynford to a 45-39 upset victory on the road Friday night at Buckeye Central in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball play.

The Royals (6-4, 3-3 N10) led throughout, taking an 11-9 lead after one quarter and pushing it to 23-15 by halftime. They held a 31-25 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Grace Collene paced the Buckettes (11-2, 6-1 N10) with nine points, with Kate Siesel and Kennedy Deppen scoring eight each. Siesel and Deppen were a combined 6 of 25.

Wynford excelled on the defensive end, holding Buckeye Central to 29.5% shooting, including a 3-of-15 mark from long range. The Royals were 13 of 35 (37.1%) from the field, including 5 of 11 on 3-pointers, and made 14 of 21 free throws.

Buckeye Central had a 33-25 rebounding advantage and had one less turnover, 11-10.

The Buckettes, who got as close as 39-36 before Wynford closed it out at the line, lost an N10 game for the first two in two years, and it was the first win for the Royals against their Crawford County rivals since 2015.

With the loss and Colonel Crawford’s overtime victory against Upper Sandusky, the Buckettes are now tied with the Eagles for first place in the N10.

Wynford faces Ridgedale at 6 p.m. today on the road.
