Dale E. “Dirty” Rosebrough, 68, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at his residence. He lost his life from a short battle of cancer.

Dale was born Oct. 1, 1955, in Marion. He was a son of the late John W. and Evelyn (Brown) Rosebrough Sr. Dale was fortunate enough in his life to have an eternal love. He married her, the love of his life, Patricia Welly, on Aug. 11, 2001, spending a total of 30 years together.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Brandy Sandahl, of Texas; and Gina (Jason) Zender, of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Caleb Davis, of Texas; Mia Miller, Liam Zender and Logan Zender, of Sycamore; and Sheryl (Chaz) Huff, of Kirby; a sister, Pat (Tedd) Pfarr, of Prospect; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a sister, Judy Rosebrough;  two brothers, Virgil (Geneva) Rosebrough and John Rosebrough Jr., and lifetime best friend Rick Columber.

Dale or “Dirty” as his loved ones called him, was a special person. There was more to Dale then being a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a man that either loved you or didn’t. He was straight forward and honest. His time was well-spent playing with his dogs, hunting pheasant and deer, being a chicken daddy, building hot rods, building things for his wife, fishing with his grandsons, getting Wendy’s Frosties with his granddaughter, and restoring anything with a motor. There was nothing he could not do or fix.

After turning junk into a treasure, he would say, “Its just like a brand new used one.” He was always on the go and stayed busy. In his younger years, he spent his time riding Harleys with his best friend Rick. Mostly, he loved hanging out with friends and “burning one” (If you know, you know), sharing laughs with loved ones, or doing things with his wife, Pat. He was good humored, entertaining and made life fun.

Dale is irreplaceable to all who knew and loved him. He deserved more time than what he was given. His family and friends will ensure his legacy lives on.

A funeral service for Dale Rosebrough is 11 a.m. Thursday at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by deacon Kevin Wintersteller. Burial will follow at Wharton Richland Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. following the visitations.
