Brian S. Stansberry

CAREY — Brian S. Stansberry, 61, of rural Carey, died at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, in the emergency room at Fostoria Community Hospital in Fostoria.
Born Sept. 5, 1958, in Upper Sandusky, he was a son of Melvin L. and Darlene C. (Elchert) Stansberry, Sr. His mother survives in Carey. He married Bonnie L. Miller on Oct. 7, 1983, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Bonnie survives in rural Carey.
He also is survived by two children: Jordan B. Stansberry, Alvada; and Logan B. Stansberry, Carey; three siblings, Curtis (Mony) Stansberry, Upper Sandusky; Melanie (Harris) Hill and Chris (Jodi) Stansberry, both of Carey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Melvin L. Stansberry, Jr.
Brian graduated from Carey High School in 1977.
He went to work at Toledo Molding and Die and retired as plant manager at several locations in Northwest Ohio. He also worked at Superior Trim in Findlay.
His ultimate dream came true five years ago when he and his wife purchased Millberry’s Market in Mount Blanchard. He felt it was the perfect retirement gig.
His love of people was evident with his club memberships. He was a member of the Fostoria Sportsman Club and AMVETS No. 69, both in Fostoria; Carey Conservation Club; Elks Lodge No. 83, Upper Sandusky; Pheasant’s Forever; and Wyandot County Coon Hunters Association. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting and hitting area auctions.
Brian was known for his stylish (shorts, dark socks and crocs) dress, no matter the weather. He took great pride in his yard and landscaping skills. Brian also had a wonderful sense of humor, especially when it came to sharing some of his unbelievable stories.
He was “Mr. Fix It” around the house and for his children. He loved spending time with his family and making the most of every day.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A scripture service is at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. John Bamman, OFM Conv, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey.
