Falcons top Pirates, 3-1

BLUFFTON — Only two matches into the season, and the Riverdale volleyball team has equalled its win total from last year. After winning only once all of last year, the Falcons were winners in their second match this season, beating Bluffton, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, on Monday night.

Edison sweeps Upper

MILAN — Edison swept Upper Sandusky, 5-0, in girls tennis action Tuesday. In singles, Mariah Medina topped Jodi Smalley, 6-1, 6-4, in the No. 1 match, while at No. 2, Jayla Medina was a 6-0, 6-4 winner against Emma Schoenberger.

Panthers sweep Rams in volleyball opener

McComb swept the Upper Sandusky volleyball team, 25-21, 25-11, 25-18, to open the season Saturday. Sydney Stuckman led the Rams (0-1) offensively with six kills on 12-of-14 hitting, while Kenedi Hayden and Emily Hill had four kills each and Anna Johnson had three.

Eagles fly higher than Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Colonel Crawford swept Riverdale, 25-9, 25-10, 25-13, in a nonconference volleyball season opener Saturday at Riverdale. Tayler Ashburn led the Falcons (0-1) with four kills, six digs and two blocks.

Red Devils win close set, sweeps

ARLINGTON — Arlington held off Wynford in the first set and then coasted after that, sweeping the Royals, 26-24, 25-10, 25-14, in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday. The Red Devils’ Jenna Pepple had seven kills, with Hailey Essinger contributing six.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to turn a deficit into a 4-2 victory against Cory-Rawson in its girls soccer season opener Friday night in North Central Ohio Soccer Association play. Payton Rodriguez and Haley Frey each scored a pair of second-half goals during a downpour for the Falcons.
