Hayman scores 27 in Warriors’ victory

MORRAL — Zach Hayman scored 27 points as Mohawk ran away with an 81-50 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday. The Warriors (12-0, 8-0 N10) led just 16-10 after one quarter and 37-22 at halftime before a huge third quarter saw them push their advantage to 60-27.

Stone, Summit lead Carey past Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Hayden Stone had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Carey to a 56-42 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Griffin Summit added 17 points for the Blue Devils (7-4, 5-2 N10).

NORTH ROBINSON — The Upper Sandusky girls basketball team didn’t make more than two shots from the field in the second half of Friday’s contest versus Colonel Crawford. They didn’t need to. Leading by 12 over Colonel Crawford at the half, the Rams, often drawing fouls while driving to the basket, connected on 17 free throws in the second half to help them hold on for a 51-43 victory over Colonel Crawford at Colonel Crawford High School.

BUCYRUS — The Wynford and Buckeye Central girls varsity basketball teams were nearly exact opposites of each other shooting the ball in the first half Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game at Wynford. Wynford was ice cold from the field, going 0 for 11 from beyond the arc while Buckeye Central was red hot, making six of its nine attempts from downtown, which allowed the Buckettes to take a 19-point lead into halftime.

Seneca East uses strong 1st quarter to stay unbeaten in N10 play

CAREY — If not for a slow first quarter, Carey may have given Northern 10 Athletic Conference leader Seneca East a game in the final minutes Friday night. The Tigers ran out to a 14-5 lead after the first eight minutes but were unable to put away the Blue Devils until near the end in a 52-39 victory that keeps Seneca East unbeaten in the N10 and alone in first place.

Falcons force 19 turnovers in 47-38 win

ARCADIA — Riverdale overcame a poor outside shooting night with a strong defensive effort in a 47-38 victory at Arcadia in a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night. The Falcons (7-5, 4-1 BVC) were just 1 of 15 from long range but held the Redskins (1-11, 0-5 BVC) to 2-of-10 shooting from long range and forced 19 turnovers.

Mohawk’s Clouse, Leeth, Sheets in contention in PIT

PERRYSBURG — Mohawk’s Kaleb Leeth, Bryce Sheets and James Clouse remain in contention after one day at the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament on Friday. All three were knocked into the consolation bracket but won matches to stay alive for the Warriors, who are 23rd of 35 teams with 27 points.
