St. Paul 2 takes over dartball lead

Tied for first place coming into the night, St. Paul Lutheran Church 2 took the Wyandot County Church Dartball lead by winning a series against co-leader Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville with 5-0 and 5-1 victories and a 12-0 loss in between on Thursday.

Upper, Mohawk to play for 8th grade title

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky reached the championship game of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference eighth grade boys basketball tournament by defeating Carey 57-32 in the semifinals Thursday at Wynford Elementary School. Keegan Isles led the Rams (15-1) with 21 points, followed by Levi Lamb with 17 points and Jackson Smalley with 13 points.

BELLEVUE — Reece Mullholand, AJ Gernert and Tanner May all went 2-0 as Carey wrestling edged Vermilion 36-33 and lost to Bellevue 52-15 in a tri-match Wednesday at Bellevue. Mullholand bumped up to 132 pounds and got a pin against the Sailors and won by 5-2 decision at 126 against the Redmen.

Upper 7th grade reaches final

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Wynford 43-29 in the semifinals of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday at Wynford Elementary School. Micah Shasteen led the Rams (14-2) with 14 points.

Sen-San-Wyan softball league having meeting

TIFFIN — The first organizational meeting for all coaches in the Sen-San-Wyan girls softball league is 7 p.m. March 6  in the Upper Room at St. Joseph Activity Center on Melmore Street in Tiffin. This instructional league is open to all girls in the surrounding areas and no girl will be denied participation on their home team.

Rams hold off Warriors by criteria

SYCAMORE — It wasn’t the start the Mohawk wrestling team was hoping for, but trailing Upper Sandusky by 21 points after four matches, the rally began. The Warriors won five of the next six matches as the dual match against the Rams ended in a 30-30 tie on Tuesday at Mohawk. Upper Sandusky won by criteria.

NEW RIEGEL — When Carey shoots it from the outside like it did Tuesday night, there’s little an opponent can do. New Riegel was the victim of an 11-of-21 3-point shooting night for the Blue Devils, who rolled to a 74-41 victory in nonleague boys basketball play at New Riegel.
