Wynford’s Olivia Grove led area All-District 6 girls basketball selections as a first-team pick in Division IV. Upper Sandusky’s Alexis Fogle earned second team honors in Division II, and the Royals’ Lyndie Williams was picked to the second team in Division IV.

ATTICA — Griffin Summit had a monster game of 30 points and eight rebounds to lead Carey to a 74-52 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Thursday night. Hayden Stone added 14 points, while Jordan Dasher scored 13 points for the Blue Devils (11-7, 8-5 N10).

VAN BUREN — Riverdale made just four field goals and dropped a 60-28 decision to Van Buren in a Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball game Thursday night. Fortunately for the Falcons, they made 18 free throws to help them stay in the game in the first half.

St. Paul Lutheran Church 2 swept Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God, 6-2, 7-4 and 5-4, scoring three times in the bottom of the ninth, to hold its lead on first place in the Wyandot County Church Dartball League on Thursday night.

Wyandot County Special Olympics will hold a donation fundraiser brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Sycamore Community Center. Savory Sweets is catering. The event also will feature silent auction baskets and raffles.

Upper Sandusky High School will host soccer referee clinics March 16. A clinic for new referees is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch provided.

Upper Sandusky will play in a Division III boys basketball sectional final at 8 p.m. March 1 at Monroeville. It will be a split session. The first game will feature the winner of New London and Huron against Western Reserve at 6:15 p.m.

Upper Sandusky High School will be hosting a spring sports parent meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. Parents of all spring sports athletes are expected to attend.

CAREY — Carey was able to bounce back up after Upper Sandusky’s initial hit but a big run to end the first half was the knockout punch Tuesday night. The Rams scored the game’s first eight points, and after the Blue Devils rallied for a brief lead, they dominated the rest of the way in a 70-43 victory at Carey that sets up a showdown with first place on the line against Mohawk on Saturday.

Wyandot County Special Olympics is taking its largest contingent ever to the Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Tournament from March 5-7 in Las Vegas. The Indians will send 12 athletes, six Special Olympics athletes and their partners, to compete in four-person teams and doubles competition at the South Point Hotel and Casino Bowling Center.
