Royals’ Grove named to district 1st team

Wynford’s Olivia Grove led area All-District 6 girls basketball selections as a first-team pick in Division IV. Upper Sandusky’s Alexis Fogle earned second team honors in Division II, and the Royals’ Lyndie Williams was picked to the second team in Division IV.

Summit scores 30 in Carey win over SE

Griffin Summit

ATTICA — Griffin Summit had a monster game of 30 points and eight rebounds to lead Carey to a 74-52 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Thursday night. Hayden Stone added 14 points, while Jordan Dasher scored 13 points for the Blue Devils (11-7, 8-5 N10).

Brunch to raise funds for trip

Wyandot County Special Olympics will hold a donation fundraiser brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Sycamore Community Center. Savory Sweets is catering. The event also will feature silent auction baskets and raffles.

Upper sectional a split session

Upper Sandusky will play in a Division III boys basketball sectional final at 8 p.m. March 1 at Monroeville. It will be a split session. The first game will feature the winner of New London and Huron against Western Reserve at 6:15 p.m.

Rams win big, set up showdown

CAREY — Carey was able to bounce back up after Upper Sandusky’s initial hit but a big run to end the first half was the knockout punch Tuesday night. The Rams scored the game’s first eight points, and after the Blue Devils rallied for a brief lead, they dominated the rest of the way in a 70-43 victory at Carey that sets up a showdown with first place on the line against Mohawk on Saturday.
