USHS seeks volunteers for track meets

The Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Department is searching for volunteers to work home track and field meets this year. No experience is necessary. Both timers and field event workers are needed. Volunteers may pick the event they would like to work.

WSHOF annual banquet set for 6 p.m. April 20

The Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame’s ninth annual banquet is April 20 at the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Fogle, Taylor-Sheldon top All-DC-U team

All-DC-U team

Alexis Fogle and Amy Taylor-Sheldon earned top honors on the All-Daily Chief-Union girls basketball team as player and coach of the year, respectively. Fogle, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, was the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leading scorer at 15.0 points per game and was first in steals at 3.8 per game.

McLaughlin tops Ball for his 4th Match Game title in last 5 years

With Roger Ball closing in on his lead late in the third game Sunday, Don McLaughlin showed why he has become Wyandot Lanes’ top bowler. McLaughlin converted a 2-4-10 split on the ninth frame to erase any chance of a Ball comeback in the championship of the Wyandot Match Game Invitational, and he went on to take a 662-607 series victory to win his fourth title in the last five years and his tournament-record fifth championship overall in the 34-year-old tournament.

The Upper Sandusky High School varsity competition cheerleading squad competed and place fifth of 19 qualifying teams in Division IV at the OASSA State Competition on at St. John Arena to end the competition cheer season.

CAREY — Carey High School senior Talen Nye wasn’t planning to participate in an extracurricular activity this year. But after receiving a schoolwide email from Carey Technology Coordinator Nick Rider asking if any students were interested in the new Carey esports team, many students, including Nye, immediately expressed interest and became members of the club.
