Riverdale girls win big at USV

Champs at USV

McGUFFEY — Riverdale’s girls placed first in eight events and double-placed in 10 events on the way to the championship in the USV Ram Invitational on Thursday at Upper Scioto Valley. The Falcons scored 186 points, finishing well ahead of runner-up Ada with 106 points. McComb was the boys champion 149.5-118 over Ada, with Riverdale finishing fourth behind Hardin Northern 89-76.5.

Upper junior high girls win Wynford Invite

Upper Sandusky’s girls won the title and the boys were second Thursday in the Wynford Invitational junior high track and field meet. The Rams girls edged Seneca East 82-80 for first place. Mohawk was fifth in a tight competition with 75 points, Wynford was eighth with 39 points, Carey was 10th with 16 points, and Our Lady of Consolation came in 12th with 8 points.

Fogle’s walkoff 2-run double pushes Upper into 1st place

Upper Sandusky senior shortstop Alexis Fogle wasn’t nervous. Not when she watched a three-run lead entering the top of the seventh inning turn into a one-run deficit heading into the bottom of the seventh. Not when a pitch she hit down the first base line with two outs and runners on first and second and her team trailing by a run almost stayed fair but rolled foul by approximately 6 inches.

St. Peter’s sweeps singles to get win

Mansfield St. Peter’s swept singles play to defeat Upper Sandusky 3-2 in a boys tennis match Wednesday at Upper Sandusky. Luke Henrich was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against the Rams’ Levi Malone in the No. 1 singles match, while Harrison Hecker rolled past Landon Cotto-Ramos 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match.

Riverdale’s Loveridge throws 1-hit shutout

PANDORA — Alec Loveridge threw a one-hit shutout to lead Riverdale to a 2-0 victory against Pandora-Gilboa in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game Wednesday in Pandora. Loveridge (3-2) faced just two batters over the minimum, striking out 10. One batter reached on an error.

Widmer leads Warriors past Tigers

SYCAMORE — Cole Widmer threw a three-hitter and had two hits and three RBIs at the plate to lead Mohawk to a 7-3 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday at Mohawk. The Warriors (10-3, 7-3 N10) bounced back from an 8-4 loss to Carey on Tuesday with a patient showing at the plate, drawing eight walks.
