Falcons score 2 in 7th inning but rally comes up short in 4-3 loss to Eagles

NORTH ROBINSON — The Riverdale softball team’s seventh-inning rally came up short as the Falcons fell 4-3 to Colonel Crawford in a non conference softball game Thursday at Colonel Crawford. The Falcons took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles answered with two runs in the bottom of the second. The Eagles added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead, but the Falcons nearly tied the game, scoring twice in the top of the seventh.

Tigers take pair of 4-1 victories

BUCYRUS — Seneca East took a pair of 4-1 victories against Wynford in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Thursday at Wynford. The Tigers (12-7, 9-5 N10) finished off a victory in a game started Wednesday, which was suspended by rain with Seneca East leading 1-0 in the third inning. The teams then played a second game with the Tigers the home team at Wynford.

Mohawk closes out win over Upper

SYCAMORE — Mohawk coach Eric Hoover wanted a pitcher who would let the defense make plays to get out of a jam while trying to finish off a key Northern 10 Athletic League baseball victory Wednesday at Mohawk. Landen Snyder did just that, and the defense followed suit to help the Warriors record the final three outs of a 3-2 win against Upper Sandusky in the completion of a suspended game from Monday.

Gillig homers again in Warriors’ win

SYCAMORE — Two times in three days. That is the number of times that Mohawk sophomore center fielder Marah Gillig has connected for a home run against the Upper Sandusky softball team. This time, her home run proved to be the difference as the Warriors withstood a late Upper Sandusky comeback in their 9-7 victory over the Rams on Wednesday in Sycamore.

Riverdale girls 2nd at Hardin County Invite

ADA — Kenton edged Riverdale’s girls for the championship in the Hardin County Invitational on Tuesday at Ada War Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats outscored the Falcons 164-159, with Ada a distant third with 104 points. The Wildcats also took the boys title, topping Hardin Northern 148-108. Ada was third over Riverdale 107-100.

McLaughlin bowls 6th 300

6 times perfect

This wasn’t the third, fourth or fifth 300 game of Allen McLaughlin’s bowling career. But it was still significant. Bowling in the final weekend of the Classic League on April 9 at Wyandot Lanes, McLaughlin, of Upper Sandusky, rolled the sixth 300 game of his bowling career.

Rams win to set up showdown against Bucyrus

With a big game looming, the Upper Sandusky softball team kept its focus where it needed to be Monday. The Rams took a 10-4 victory against Mohawk to set up a first-place showdown at Bucyrus today. “It’s good not to overlook a good Mohawk team to get to Bucyrus,” Upper Sandusky coach Luke Swavel said.

Despite stranding at least seven runners throughout the first six innings, the Mohawk baseball team still found a way to get situational hits and a sacrifice bunt when it most needed them. But not until Wednesday will it be known whether or not the Warriors’ late-game heroics were enough to top the Rams.
