COLUMBUS — Jon Diebler and his former Ohio State teammates have come close to winning The Basketball Tournament, but haven’t yet taken home the top prize. In 2017, they advanced to the semifinals, and in 2018, they advanced to the quarterfinals.

The Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association Chad A. Wheeler "Best of the Best" tournament was held on Thursday at Lincoln Hills Golf Course with nine of 14 winners and runners-up of the HOJGA tournament series participating. Eighteen holes were played from the white tees on the par 72 course.

FINDLAY — Riverdale junior Andrew Kuenzli was named the boys player of the year in the Findlay Area Golf Association. Kuenzli won seven times on this season’s tour. Kiley Cline was the girls player of the year. Sportsmanship award winners were AJ Overmyer and Claire Recker.

GALION — Fairbanks golfers won two of three age divisions in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Monday at Valley View Golf Course. Justin Brackenridge won the 16-18 age division with a 79, while Alexander Crowe took first place in the 13-15 division with a 77.

Upper Sandusky’s boys finished sixth and the girls were seventh Saturday in the All Summer Aquatic Conference championship meet Saturday at the Loudonville Public Pool.

GALION — Soon after the end of their collegiate baseball seasons, Trey Bame, Austin Harper, Wyatt Smith, Cody Gabriel and Parker Brown found a way to hone their skills and further their knowledge of the game.
