Free military admission Jan. 19 at USMS

The OHSAA has deemed Jan. 19 as Armed Services Appreciation Night for basketball games. In honor of this, Upper Sandusky Middle School will allow any former or active service member into its Jan. 18 girls basketball games against Mohawk for free.

Upper athletics sets no-contact period for 2018

The Upper Sandusky High School and Upper Sandusky Middle School summer athletic no-contact period will be observed from June 30 through July 8. No practices, games, shoot-outs, 7-on-7s, competitions, individual instruction, open gym or fields, conditioning or weight training will be held during this time.

Falcons’ Carter to compete in Australian event

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale High School senior Emma Carter has never left the country. That is about to change. Carter is one of four Hardin County track and field athletes who were selected to represent Ohio and compete on the USA track and field team in the 30th annual Gold Coast Commonwealth Games held in Queensland, Australia, in July.

Hopewell-Loudon runs away from Mohawk

BASCOM — Freshman MaKayla Elmore posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Hopewell-Loudon to a 64-18 victory against Mohawk in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday evening. Jacque Burns added 18 points for the Chieftains (10-1), while Emily Pace finished with 10 points.
