BUCYRUS — After finishing the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 1-2 record, Wynford felt it needed to make a statement heading into Northern 10 Athletic Conference play Friday night against Buckeye Central. The Royals’ offense flashed their big play ability, scoring on all five possessions in the first half en route to a dominating 57-0 win on homecoming night against the winless Bucks.

Colonel Crawford senior wide receiver/defensive back Jordan Fenner picked the perfect time for his first career kickoff return for a touchdown. Moments after the Upper Sandusky quarterback Mason Vent scored on a 9-yard touchdown run to give the Rams a two-point lead with 1:28 remaining in the third quarter, Fenner took the ensuing kickoff and, after not seeing an opening on the right, sprinted to his left and took the kickoff 80 yards for a score.

CAREY — For the second time in one week, Carey’s Sarah Reinhart won a race by more than a minute. Reinhart won the girls race in 20:16 at the Carey Run on Thursday at Carey. Her closest competitor, Van Buren’s Justine Hunt, finished second in 21:20.

Upper Sandusky had a well-rounded effort in taking a 25-18, 16-25, 25-18, 25-17 victory against Colonel Crawford on Thursday night in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball action at Upper Sandusky. Emily Hill and Lily Gibson finished with seven kills each, while Reagan Ward contributed four aces, six kills and five blocks. Jenna Kurtz finished with five kills and four blocks for the Rams (4-9, 3-6 N10).

Mara Smalley delivered a second straight gutsy win but Shelby downed Upper Sandusky 4-1 in a girls tennis match Thursday at Upper Sandusky. Smalley won her No. 2 singles match 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) over Molly Eith.

For the second straight year, a Wynford athlete has been named All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf player of the year. Caity Schiefer took that top honor this season, following Abby Underwood’s accolade last year. Schiefer, a junior, led the league with an adjusted nine-hole average of 50.25, good enough to edge out Seneca East sophomore Autumn Enders at 50.92.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Jackson Clark scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as Riverdale rolled to a 5-0 victory against Liberty-Benton in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday at Riverdale. Coby Miller also scored and assisted on both of Clark’s goals, while Drew Frey and Brayden Courtney added goals and Wyatt Price an assist for the unbeaten Falcons (5-0-3, 2-0 NCOSA).

ATTICA — McKenzie Row had 14 kills and 26 digs, and Carey took the first set but dropped a 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18 decision at Seneca East on Thursday night. Carey’s defense was put to work. Emma Wagner had a team-high 27 digs, while Ellison Roark finished with 26. Roark was 15 of 19 serve receiving, Row was 13 of 13, and Makenzie Snyder was 13 of 15 and added 11 digs.

NEW WASHINGTON — Wynford improved after a very slow start but it was not enough to stay in the match with first-place Buckeye Central in a 25-7, 25-13, 25-19 loss in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Thursday night.

Upper Sandusky’s junior high girls finished as runner-up in the school’s home invitational, the Elks Upper Sandusky Middle School Invitational on Thursday at Harrison Smith Park. Tiffin topped the Rams 31-71 for first place.
