Koons tops the field in Seneca East Invite

TIFFIN — Kyle Koons earned tournament medalist honors to lead Wynford to a third-place finish Thursday in the Seneca East Invitational boys golf tournament at Seneca Hills Golf Course. Fremont St. Joseph won with a 333-341 advantage over host Seneca East, with the Royals finishing with a 351 team score.

Wynford opens N10 play with win over CC

GALION — The Wynford girls golf team opened Northern 10 Athletic Conference play with a 242-262 victory against Colonel Crawford on Thursday at Valley View Golf Course. The Royals’ Caity Schiefer earned medalist honors with a 58, while Abby Underwood and Kassidy Stanford were right behind with scores of 60 and 61, respectively. Emily Rudd added a 63.

Tanner leads Carey to 4th place at BG tournament

BOWLING GREEN — Ethan Tanner’s 90 led Carey as it finished fourth in the 13-team Wildcat Invitational on Wednesday at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green. St. Henry won the event with a team score of 354, led by medalist Jack Romer with a 76. Lakota and Lincolnview both finished with 362.

Young leads Rams in Galion Invite

GALION — Competing without their top player, the Upper Sandusky boys golf team still managed a fifth-place finish among nine teams in the Galion Invitational Wednesday at Galion Country Club. The Rams were without Brett Montgomery, who was attending a funeral.

Falcons top Eagles

GALION — The Riverdale golf team picked up its first victory of the season by defeating Colonel Crawford, 197-225, on Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course. Andrew Kuenzli led the way for the Falcons (1-2) by shooting a 3-over-par 39 that included birdies on Nos. 2 and 5.

Big Red downs Royals in dual

SHELBY — Josh Crall shot a 43 to lead Wynford but it was not enough in a 172-191 victory by Plymouth in a boys golf dual match Wednesday at Woody Ridge Golf Course. Aden Caldwell had a 44, and Kayleb Keaton shot a 46, but the Royals (0-1) settled for a 58 for the fourth score, shot by both Kyle Koons and Mitch Zaebst.

Royals finish in 3rd place; Warriors’ Drum cards 79

NEW WASHINGTON — Mohawk’s Logan Drum was medalist runner-up, and Wynford was third as a team Tuesday in the Buckeye Central Invitational boys golf tournament at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Seneca East’s Jake Forehand shot a 78 to medal and lead the Tigers to a one-stroke victory over River Valley 347-348.
