Rams win big on senior night

Senior night

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky won big over its fellow pool mates as all three schools celebrated senior night Friday evening at the Bucyrus YMCA. The Rams girls topped Wynford 261-100, with Bucyrus scoring 76 points, while Upper Sandusky’s boys scored 130 points, with the Royals topping the Redmen 73-24 for second place.

The Carey Competition Varsity Cheerleaders competed for the first time at the 10th annual Ohio Athletic Commission High School Cheerleading State Championship on Jan. 13 at Worthington Kilbourne High School and brought home a first-place trophy in the small high school on-mount intermediate level division and also won first place as the overall high point winner in the small high school division, earning state jackets and a state banner.

VAN BUREN — Riverdale’s Miles Frey led area wrestlers by taking fourth place in the 145-pound weight class this weekend in the Van Buren Invitational wrestling tournament. He was the only wrestler to place for the Falcons, who finished 22nd with 39 points.

NORTH ROBINSON — Coach David Sheldon did not have to do anything to get his team mentally prepared for Friday night’s rematch with Upper Sandusky. After the Eagles lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer in the first matchup, they were ready for another down-to-the-wire finish, and this time, they came out on top 47-46 at Mac Morrison Gymnasium.

Devils’ Stone has 26 points, 16 boards in victory over Tigers

CAREY — The Carey boys basketball team raced out to a 17-point halftime lead and never looked back on the way to a 75-43 victory over Seneca East on Friday at Carey. The Blue Devils (8-4, 6-2 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the first quarter, 18-10 in the second quarter, 21-18 in the third quarter and 20-8 in the fourth quarter.
