Wenger appears to be headed back to state, this time with relay

BOWLING GREEN — This time, it seems Upper Sandusky senior Abbey Wenger hopes will be joined by her friends and teammates at the state meet. Wenger, a state qualifier as a junior last season, was a member of the 200 medley relay team of Katie Conley, Kami Swartz and Maya Collins that finished seventh in 1:53.32 in the Division II district Friday at Bowling Green State University, putting them in good position to qualify for state.

Hayman becomes leading scorer in Mohawk history

SYCAMORE — While growing up, Mohawk senior guard Zach Hayman always knew who the leading scorer in Mohawk boys basketball history, George Amlin, was. Amlin, scored 1,097 points from 1960-63. Now, Hayman will be able to look up and see his name on the wall as the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer.

Dunn named district 6 coach of year

Mohawk’s Paul Dunn was honored as Division IV coach of the year, and the Warriors’ Zach Hayman was among five first-team selections on the All-District 6 boys basketball team. Upper Sandusky’s Mason Vent and Cameron McCreary, Wynford’s Josh Crall and Carey’s Hayden Stone all earned first-team selections in Division III.

Royals’ Grove named to district 1st team

Wynford’s Olivia Grove led area All-District 6 girls basketball selections as a first-team pick in Division IV. Upper Sandusky’s Alexis Fogle earned second team honors in Division II, and the Royals’ Lyndie Williams was picked to the second team in Division IV.

ATTICA — Griffin Summit had a monster game of 30 points and eight rebounds to lead Carey to a 74-52 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Thursday night. Hayden Stone added 14 points, while Jordan Dasher scored 13 points for the Blue Devils (11-7, 8-5 N10).
