Hopewell-Loudon holds off Riverdale

BASCOM — Through the first half, Riverdale matched Hopewell-Loudon shot for shot in a Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball game Thursday night. But a lull by the Falcons in the beginning of the third allowed the Chieftains to pull away, and a bevy of second-chance buckets helped them hold on for a 61-53 victory.

Mohawk 8th grade gets win

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Tiffin Calvert, 39-36, on Thursday. Austin Tusing, Trey Combs and Landen Snyder had 13 points apiece for the Warriors.

MHS hosting wrestling Sat.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Warrior and Little Warrior Wrestling Tournament is 10 a.m. Saturday at Mohawk. The dual format high school tournament also features Carey, Gibsonburg, Northwood, Indian Lake and Van Buren.

CHS event set

CAREY — The Carey Teen Leadership Corps will hold the second annual basketball Coaches vs. Cancer games Jan. 21. Carey’s girls take on Mohawk at 1 p.m., while the boys compete against Upper Sandusky at 6 p.m.

Games moved

Upper Sandusky’s girls basketball game at Tiffin Columbian will begin with junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 27. Wynford’s girls basketball game scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Ashland Crestview has been postponed to Jan. 3.
