Africentric coach gets suspension

COLUMBUS — Columbus Africentric coach Will McKinney has been disciplined for comments he made criticizing officials following Wednesday night’s Division III regional semifinal 85-46 victory against Riverdale at Lexington. McKinney will be suspended for Saturday’s regional final game against Archbold, and Africentric has been fined, OHSAA Director of Communications Tim Stried said Thursday night.

USHS selling district tickets

Upper Sandusky High School is selling Division II district final boys basketball tickets until 3 p.m. today and from 4:30-6 p.m. today in the athletic office. No pre-sale tickets will be available Saturday.

Pauley wins state indoor weight throw

AKRON — Riverdale senior Carrol Pauley won the combined Division II/III girls weight throw championship, breaking her own state record with a throw of 59-2 in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Indoor State Championship on Saturday at the University of Akron’s Stile Athletics Field House.

Barbecue to benefit USHS

Fairhaven Community will be sponsoring a chicken barbecue drive-thru fundraiser from 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 19 with all proceeds supporting the Upper Sandusky High School athletic department. Meals include half a chicken, bacon and cheese scalloped potatoes, green beans and a roll.

Holderman sets school career scoring record

LEXINGTON — Not only did Riverdale’s surprise tournament run allow it to extend its season, it also made two broken records possible. Five tournament games were just enough for senior Sydney Holderman to become the Falcons’ career leading scorer, and it also allowed junior Lexie Wright to break the school single-season rebounding record.
