CAREY — The Carey baseball team is tired of waiting for next year. The future is now. Brayden Wentling doubled home Reece Mullholand with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Blue Devils a season-opening 5-4 victory against Riverdale on Monday.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — With Hannah Lonsway in the circle, Dani Berardinelli-Clark could focus on taking care of business at the plate. Lonsway pitched a five-inning shutout, and Berardinelli-Clark smacked a double, a triple and a home run to lead Carey to a season-opening 10-0 victory over Riverdale.

KENTON — Molly Pees hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and then delivered the game-winning RBI in the seventh to give Kenton a 2-1 win against Upper Sandusky in a non-conference softball game Monday.

KENTON — The Upper Sandusky boys tennis team opened its season with a 4-1 victory against Kenton on Monday. “It was a really good opening win for us with three new singles players from last year and the doubles teams all being new combinations,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said.

KENTON — Kenton took advantage of eight Upper Sandusky errors in a five-inning 11-0 baseball victory Monday. The Wildcats scored six times in the second inning, twice each in the third and fourth innings and once in the fifth.

SYCAMORE — Wyatt Cook threw a season-opening, six-inning no-hitter in Mohawk’s 11-1 victory against Cory-Rawson on Monday. Cook walked two and gave up an unearned run with eight strikeouts.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk’s softball team scored six times in the first inning and cruised to a season-opening 12-2 victory in six innings against Cory-Rawson on Monday. The Warriors (1-0) added a single run each in the second and third innings before the Hornets scored their two runs in the top of the fourth.
