Wynford girls win tri

BUCYRUS — The Wynford girls golf team opened its season with a 229-267 victory against Bucyrus on Tuesday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Ashland Crestview also competed but did not have enough players for a team score.

Miller medalist runner-up, Kuenzli 3rd at Blue Jacket Invite

TIFFIN — Marcus Miller was medalist runner-up to lead Carey to a third-place finish in the season-opening Blue Jacket Invitational at Seneca Hills Golf Course. Miller shot a 76, including a 38 on both the front and back of the course. He birdied No. 16 and was outdone only by Margaretta’s Oliver Thomas, who shot a 72 to lead the Polar Bears to the team title.

Cheer champs

The Riverdale cheerleading teams recently all took first place at the Seneca County Fair. In Auglaize County, the Falcons combined to win the spirit award, and the minis, midgets and small varsity teams all took first place, while the junior high team finished second.

Wharton Fest names winners

WHARTON — The Wharton Fest has released names of winners of festival events. Drew Frey, Max Morris, Isaac Holland and Luke Morris won the 12-14-year-old age group in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Rams open with midnight scrimmage

The Upper Sandusky girls soccer team began its season with a midnight scrimmage and campout early Tuesday morning at the high school soccer fields. Megan Hensel scored an extra-time goal to complete a hat trick and give Glowsticks a 6-5 victory against Glowpaint.

Scarlet & Gray falls in double OT

BALTIMORE — Casper Ware scored two key baskets to help Challenge ALS knock off Scarlet & Gary, 88-83, in double overtime in the semifinals of The Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night at Coppin State University.
