Safety blotter: May 13, 2019

An officer drove an Upper Sandusky man home from the Wyandot Memorial Hospital emergency room the early morning of May 10. A caller reported a vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot for two days the afternoon of May 10. The responding officer placed a note on the vehicle stating the vehicle cannot remain there after hours. The owner later called and advised the vehicle had battery issues.

Safety blotter: May 11, 2019

An Upper Sandusky man was traveling eastbound on Ohio 294 near CH 113 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing minor damage the morning of May 8. Meghan M. Bennett, Fostoria, was arrested by the Fostoria Police Department and transported to the Wyandot County Jail on a warrant on indictment for aggravated possession of drugs the afternoon of May 8.

Safety blotter: May 10, 2019

An officer investigated a driverless truck striking another vehicle at the reservoir the afternoon of May 5. The vehicle still was running when the officer arrived at the scene and the officer was able to put the vehicle in park. Photos of the crash were taken and contact was made with the owner, who was on a boat fishing, to collect insurance information.

Safety blotter: May 9, 2019

A caller reported a breaking and entering attempt at the concession stand at American Legion Field in Sycamore the afternoon of May 1. Extra patrols were performed in the area. Mandeep S. Sandhu, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was cited for failure to control after a semi truck he was driving was stuck in a yard on the 11000 block of CH 4 the afternoon of May 1.

Safety blotter: May 8, 2019

A caller reported a reckless driver southbound on Ohio 53 near the Wyandot County Fairgrounds the morning of May 3. The responding officer pulled over the suspected vehicle and no signs of impairment were observed. An officer performed a stand by on the 200 block of Richardson Drive the evening of May 3.

Safety blotter: May 3, 2019

Officers responded to a call of a reckless vehicle at the intersection of South Sandusky Avenue and Johnson Street the morning of May 2. The driver admitted to not sleeping in 24 hours and agreed to park their vehicle and call for a ride home.

Safety blotter: May 2, 2019

Jason P. Shifflett, Greeneville, Tennessee, was cited for driving under suspension, expired plates and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on U.S. 23 southbound near CH 121 the morning of May 1. An officer on patrol observed a resident on the 300 block of West Finley Street burning a large pile of sticks in their back yard the afternoon of May 1. The resident was advised of the city’s burning ordinance and how to comply. The fire was extinguished.

An officer found an unlocked door at the rear of Kustom Karts on the 100 block of Fairview Street the early morning of April 30. No signs of criminal activity were observed. The officer locked the door and dispatch advised an employee of the issue.

Safety blotter: April 30, 2019

A Sycamore man was traveling northbound on Ohio 231 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing minor damage the early morning of April 27. Colin R. Blackmore-Ide, Clearwater, Florida, was cited for failure to control after a two vehicle accident on Ohio 15 near CH 21, causing disabling damage to both vehicles the afternoon of April 28.
