Community First Bank N.A. has announced the promotion of head teller Jodi Perkins to branch operations manager. Perkins, who began her banking career in Upper Sandusky, returned after 20 years to take the position of head teller with CFB nearly three years ago.

The brick home of Tom and Bonnie Eyestone in Carey was one of the six stops on Sunday’s annual home and garden tour. Four homes and two gardens were open for exploration to the public for five hours.

SYCAMORE — Council members discussed administrative issues and donations during Tuesday’s Sycamore Village Council meeting. Village Administrator Chuck Clark said he had been approached by a resident about a problem on Kilborn Street with junk cars.

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Mayor Rick Arnold reminded residents of the village to keep personal property out of the village alleys and right-of-ways during Tuesday night’s council meeting. He also reminded them to clear brush from alleys and sidewalks to allow propane trucks access to propane tanks.

The Envirothon competition is designed to stimulate, reinforce and enhance interest in the environment and natural resources among high school students. The Envirothon tests students’ knowledge of soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology and current environmental issues.

Conservation Reserve Program participants are responsible for ensuring adequate, approved vegetative and practice cover is maintained to control erosion throughout the life of the contract after the practice has been established. Participants also must control undesirable vegetation, weeds (including noxious weeds), insects and rodents that may pose a threat to existing cover or adversely impact other landowners in the area.

FOREST — At the free 4R Technology Review Field Day, retailers, farmers and other interested parties will hear from experts and see field demonstrations focused on strengthening the industry’s commitment to improving the quality of Ohio’s waterways.

Upper Sandusky Parks Director Keith Niederkohr provided updates for the planned splash pad at Bicentennial Park at Monday’s park board meeting. Niederkohr presented revised photos of the splash pad area to the board.

The Upper Sandusky Fire Department responded to call about a tractor with a hay baler on fire on Saturday afternoon. The report from the fire department states the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office called for the USFD after observing a hay baler on fire on CH 121 between Dollar General and the ODOT garage.

CAREY — Two weeks after Carey Village Council members approved a motion to alleviate a traffic issue in town, Carey Exempted Village School District Superintendent Michael Wank on Monday ensured local residents understand the district’s stance on the traffic issue.
