SYCAMORE — Kevin VanHoosier, of rural Sycamore, was almost a statistic, but the U.S. Army veteran with over six years of combat experience is turning his near tragic experience into a positive. “Twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day, and I was almost one of them,” VanHoosier said.

A Tiffin man is fighting for his life after a rollover single vehicle accident early Sunday morning near Carey and his family is in need of help. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s report states James R. McGee, of Tiffin, was in the back seat of a 2004 Chevy Cavalier driven by Robert J. Sugden Jr., of Tiffin, heading eastbound on CH 16 near TH 106 when Sugden Jr. dropped a cigarette in the vehicle and lost control while reaching for it.

NEVADA — The return of the Nevada Festival last year was successful and organizers this year are hoping things go even better. Last year’s festival was the first summer village event in more than a decade.

Progress was made during Wednesday’s meeting of the Wyandot County Infirmary Cemetery Memorial committee at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Committee member Mary Reinhart said she spoke with Ryan North, who used ground penetrating radar last July in an attempt to find the location of the cemetery.
