Soil health and cover crop workshop Friday

The Wyandot and Hardin county Soil and Water Conservation Districts are hosting a Soil Health and Cover Crop workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Wyandot EMS Building, 401 N. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky. During the morning part of the workshop, participants will hear from Jim Hoorman, who is a regional soil health specialist from the northwest region of Ohio and Michigan, Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Union Elementary first graders present project to board members at meeting

Union Elementary first-grade students gave a presentation on work they have been doing during Monday night’s Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District meeting at Union School. The school’s first-grade classes got a grant to work with the creative theater group Catco from Columbus. They will put on a performance at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Union auditorium.

Carey board discusses DECA

CAREY — Carey DECA Adviser Derek Cunningham reminded Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education members on Monday that he is planning to retire at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year. Cunningham has been at Carey High School for 29 years and would like to see the CHS DECA program remain viable under new leadership.

County introduces new 4-H educator

Wyandot County recently filled its vacant new 4-H educator position with someone close to home. Andrea Cole, a Colonel Crawford graduate out of Crawford County, met all the qualifications, replacing Todd Thomas, who took program coordinator position at Ohio State University.

Sheriff’s office reports multiple accidents

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple traffic collisions due to slick road conditions on Sunday. At 3:27 p.m. a silver 2002 Ford Windstar was traveling northbound on U.S. 23 behind a blue 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe when the Windstar struck the Tahoe, which was slowing in traffic.

Criminal, traffic cases tried in court

Susan L. Bradford, Upper Sandusky, charged by the police with petty theft and criminal trespassing, pretrial held, continued to Feb. 13. William J. Randall, Carey, charged by the Carey police with assault, pretrial held, continued to Feb. 13. Angela M. Stevens, Carey, charged by the Carey police with assault, continued to March 13.
